Current Mood: Happy

I got a couple of emails from the Office of the President of the Philippine Airlines... now I feel like a celebrity. Here are excerpts from the emails...
On behalf of PAL Management, we thank you for your valued patronage of the flag carrier. However, we sincerely regret to know that we have failed in your expectations in providing you a pleasurable flight, particularly, with the reported inoperative inflight entertainment system of your assigned seat. Please accept on the outset our deepest apologies for the disappointment and discomfort resulting from the reported occurrence and the untoward turn of events.
Based on the results of our investigation, we have learned that the aircraft assigned to your PR103 flight of 06 November was our newly-refurbished Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Please allow us to share with you that the flag carrier had embarked on a PHP3.5 billion renovation of our wide-body fleet last April 2008 to provide more comfort and amenities to our passengers. The project involved the reconfiguration of passenger cabin from a tri-class to bi-class layout, along with a major upgrade of the interioris and amenities last April, 2008. The aircraft assigned to your flight was installed with a new software for its inflight entertainment system, which regrettably, did not function properly during your flight. As this new software for our inflight entertainment was installed quite recently, we are still observing isolated cases of deficiencies that serve as avenues for us to perfect the system. We have brought this matter to the attention of aircraft maintenance provider, Lufthansa Technik Philippines, who had worked on its immediate rectification and has been relentlessly exerting efforts to alleviate recurrence of a similar incident.
We have taken serious note of your additional comments, particularly on the attitude problems of our personnel from the flight crew to the " we care " staff. This definitely goes against our service culture of ensuring total passenger care at all times. We will bring them to the attention of the heads of the concerned offices. It is our goal to provide an enjoyable flight experience through professional and caring service regardless of class, nationality or membership status.
Let us see if the senior flight crew's attitude will improve...
as they say it's difficult to teach old dogs new tricks.
